Olivya is a theatre artist who currently lives in Connecticut after graduating from Ithaca College. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, she was involved in the theatre community in many roles; from performer, to stage crew, and usher at the Playhouse Square. As a designer, she values deep conversations with her colleagues about the pieces they’re working on that question, and challenge themselves. Finding a connection between their lived experiences and realties, she is always open to the "weird" ideas.
With her roots based in musicals, she has scenic designed Rent for the Main Stage season at Ithaca College, as well as a paper project of Fun Home. Her first produced design in collaboration with playwright Aaliyah Warrington: Gather Ye Children, was shared with audiences via Zoom in 2020. Other select scenic design paper projects include: You Can’t Take It With You, and Cry Old Kingdom.
Costume Design Credits include; Spring 2022 One Act Festival at Ithaca College (Free Play, Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse, Unicorn Girl), and assistant costume designer for Antigone Project; a Play in Five Parts. Select costume design paper projects include: brownsville song (b-side for tray), Spamalot, and an evening gown for Madam Vice President.
Olivya currently works for Goodspeed Musicals in East Haddam, CT as a First Hand in the costume shop. In her spare time, she likes to take care of her plants, perform in local productions, watch a movie with her fiancé, and relax with her cat while drinking boba tea.
She is proud to have ushered in a new era at Goodspeed as she was part of the negotiation team for their first contract with IATSE Local 84 for production workers.
